Helping your young students understand about refugees and migrants around the world, both now and throughout history is more important now than ever. Working to instill kindness and compassion into the lives of children both at home and at school is imperative. Kids should understand the realities faced by refugees and migrants, look for what unites all of us, and seek to show kindness, compassion, and love to all.
This mini-unit for elementary kids will allow you to seamlessly teach your students about refugees and migrants while also tying in all of those ELA and Social Studies standards.
Most of all it will help your students broaden their world-view and continue to develop compassion for children and families from all over the world.
