This past summer, we decided to take our kids on a different kid of vacation. We wanted something that would support their education and provide opportunities for creating memories. After hearing about the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum from fellow homeschool parents, it was definitely on our bucket list. We knew it would be a great destination for our family. What we didn’t realize was just how impactful this trip would be for all of us. Now, looking back, we can say that it was one of the best vacation decisions we’ve made as parents. If you’re considering a trip that will inspire, educate, help to build your Biblical world view, and bring your family closer together, we’d like to give five reasons to visit the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum.
Educational Experience with a Biblical Foundation
As parents, we’re always looking for ways to reinforce the teachings we instill in our kids at home. The Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum provided us with an educational experience that aligned perfectly with our Christian beliefs. Walking through the life-size Ark, our kids were able to see, touch, and experience the Biblical account of Noah and his family. This made it come alive in a way that none of us had experienced before. The Creation Museum was loaded with amazing exhibits on the Genesis account of creation. They gave so much scientific evidence in support of what God’s Word teaches about beginnings. We walked aways with a deeper understanding of the Bible, God’s plan of salvation, and how to defend our beliefs. It was rewarding to see our kids engaged and asking questions! We had the opportunity to explore and discuss these important topics as a family.
Interactive and Engaging Exhibits
Our whole family was captivated by the incredible attention to detail at the Ark Encounter. The exhibits were engaging for all ages. It was fun to watch our big kids’ as they explored and learned. They loved activities, and learning exhibits. They learned things like learning how the Ark was built and what life might have been like for Noah’s family. The Creation Museum also offered plenty of interactive experiences. The walk-through history of the world and the planetarium both left us all in awe. It was hard to take it everything it had to offer! The book stores sell a “Signs” book with pictures of all the teaching signs that are posted throughout the exhibits. Our kids learned so much and have continued to talk about what they learned long after we returned home. Being able to go back and refer to the “Signs” books have been so helpful.

Family-Friendly Environment
If you’re looking for more reasons to visit the Ark Encounter and creation museum, here’s a great one! One thing that really stood out to us was how family-friendly both the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum are. There were activities and experiences that were perfect for our whole family to enjoy together. Walking through the beautiful botanical gardens at the Creation Museum, watching a live presentation at the Ark, and listening to amazing speakers, were all attractions and events were designed with families in mind. The staff was so welcoming and made sure all guests had a great experience. We have traveled all over the country with our family as part of our homeschooling. At the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, it was so good knowing we were in a place where our kids could be themselves, ask questions, and explore in a safe and wholesome environment.
Encourages Biblical Word View & Faith-Based Discussions
One of the most meaningful parts of our visit was the way it sparked so many Bible-based discussions within our family. As we walked through the exhibits, our kids had so many questions about the Bible, God’s creation, and what it all means for us today. It was the perfect opportunity to talk about our faith in a natural and engaging way. We were able to share our beliefs, have so many of our questions answered, and learn together. It was amazing to see how this experience deepened all of our understanding of the Bible and strengthened our faith. Even now, months later, we find ourselves referencing things we learned during our visit in our everyday conversations.

Beautiful and Inspirational Surroundings
Lastly, the beauty of the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum added so much to our experience. The attention to detail in every exhibit, the well-maintained grounds, and the stunning landscapes all contributed to a sense of awe and wonder about God’s creation. Walking through the Creation Museum’s botanical gardens is truly something your can’t miss! The peaceful surroundings made it easy to reflect and appreciate the grace that God gives every day.
